Commemorating the Second Schleswig War 1864

In 2014 it is 150 years ago since Denmark lost severely in the battle at Dybbøl in the Second Schleswig War between Denmark and Germany/Prussia. PaperDreams has made a paperdoll commemorating this. Who is Paula Fischer?

Paula Fischer is an ordinary girl from Copenhagen in the 1920's. The figure is inspired by the paintings by Paul Fischer from Copenhagen in the twenties. She also goes to Broadway and gets a job as a chorus girl. Therefore she also exists in a version where she appears in the beautiful costumes from the Ziegfeld Follies from that period. Both sheets are in A-3 format. You find them in the category Paperdolls, Fictive historic persons. The version from Copenhagen is also available as a postcard.

Chinese influence

China has always fascinated the Europeans, and Chinese influence can also be seen in European costume. PaperDreams has mad a paperdoll showing this influence on fashion through a couple of centuries. Frederik II and Sofie

Kronborg Castle had last year an exhibition of a reconstruction of the dress worn by the young queen of the Danish renaissance king, Frederik II, Sofie. Kronborg wished to be able to sell the couple as paperdolls, so PaperDreams created them, including the dress. They have a connention to Kronborg, as the castle was built by Frederik II. The year 2007 has been announced as Year of the Industrial Culture. This means that many museums will arrange exhibitions with focus on the industrial development, and of course this must also be celebrated with paperdolls. PaperDreams has made a family, consisting of father, mother, son and daugther. They all have costumes representing a worker's family and a manufacturer's family in four different periods from app. 1885 - app. 1965.
